Take a Kid Fishing Day 2011




Take a Kid Fishing Day is On Again!
Sunfish South Moreton will be holding their annual Take a Kid Fishing Day on Sunday 3 April on thre Wynnum Tee Jetty. The day will commence at 8.30am and finish at 1.00pm.
Kids must register for the day at the shelter shed near the whales water playground. Parents or Carers must accompany the kids. Look for our banners.
The registration forms become the ticket in the lucky draw prizes. The Australian Industry of Recreational Fishing donate the prizes and Bruce Alvey of Alvey Reels will be present to assist the kids, and tell some of his fishing secrets.
Kids need to bring along their own fishing rods and tackle. We suggest prawns, squid or worms for bait and any of these can be bought from the Water Tower Bait and Tackle shop in the BP Garage complex at the round about in Manly Road. Make sure you have plenty of sunscreen and wear a hat.
Sunfish instructors will be on hand to assist with casting skills, tying knots, baiting a hook and handling and measuring fish.
Fishing will end at 12.00 and a sausage sizzle will be ready for the kids. After that the prize draw will held and give away bags handed out to the kids.

Take a Kid Fishing Day is on again!
Sunfish South Moreton branch will be holding their anual Take A Kid Fishing Day on Sunday 3 April at the Wynnum Jetty. The day will start at 8.30am and finish at 12.00.

Kids must register at the shelter near the whales playground and be accompanied by a parent or carer.

The registration forms will be the ticket to go into the lucky draw at the end of the morning. The prizes are donated by the Australian Tackle Industry and one well known member Bruce Alvey of Alvey Reels will be present to assist the kids and pass on some of his welth of fishing knowledge.

Kids will need to bring along their own rods, reels and fishing tackle. Some of the baits that would be good on the day are prawns, squid and worms. Bait will be available at the Water Tower Bait and Tackle shop in the BP Garage complex at the round about in Manly Road, Manly.

Sunfish members will be there to assist in fishing skills , knot tying, baiting a hook and fishing handling. The day is to promote the fun of a family going fishing and wanting to go again another day.

The lucky draw and give away bags will be done after the sausage sizzle.

Take a Kid Fishing Day is on Again!
Sunfish South Moreton branch will be holding their annaul Take a Kid Fishing Day on Sunday 3 April on the Wynnum Jetty. The day will start at 8.30am and finish at 12.00.

Kids must register on the day and be accompanied by a parent or carer. Registration forms will be available at the shelter. The registration forms become the ticket for the lucky draw prizes donated by the Australian Tackle Industry at the end of the morning. Tackle industry identity Bruce Alvey of Alvey Reels, will be there to assist with fishing skils and pass on some fishing secrets he learned from many years of fishing.

Kids will need to bring along their own fishing rods, reels and tackle. You could buy prawns, worms, or squid as preferred baits. Any of these can be purchased at the Water Tower Bait and Tackle in the BP Garage complex at the round about in Manly Road, Manly.

Sunfish members will be available to assist the kids with fishing skills. The day will be an encouragement for families to come out and enjoy the fun of fishing.

A free give away bag will be handed to the kids after the sausage sizzle and lucky prize draw.

Kids must be accompanied by a parent or carer and register at the shelter tent near the whales playground. Look for our banners.

Everyone needs to bring their own fishing gear and bait. We suggest buying prawns, squid, or worms. Bait can be purchased at the Water Tower Bait and Tackle shop in the BP Garage complex at the roundabout in Manly Road.

The registration forms become your ticket for the lucly draw prizes at the end of the day. Prizes are donated by the Australian Industry of Recreational Fishing. One of our local representatives Bruce Alvey of Alvey Reels will be present to assist with fishing techniques and conduct the lucky draw.

Sunfish instructors will be available to assist and demonstrate casting, knot tying, baiting a hook, and safe fish handling and identification.

So come along as a family and enjoy the safe friendly venue for a day out fishing.

Enjoy the sausage sizzle and a free sample bag will be handed out to the kids at the finish of the day.

As part of our safety program, Kids need to register, with parents approval, at the shelter near the whales playground, look for the Sunfish banners. Kids must be accompanied by a parent or carer on the day.


You need to bring your own fishing gear and bait. We suggest prawns, squid or worms which can be purchased from the Water Tower Bait & Tackle shop in the BP Garage complex at the roundabout on Manly Road. Make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen and a water bottle.


The registration forms will be your ticket in the lucky prize draw. The Australian Industry of Recreational Fishing will donate the prizes. Representative Bruce Alvey of Alvey Reels will be present to offer his fishing skills and techniques and give out the prizes at the lucky draw.


Sunfish instructors will be present to assist kids, offer advice and demonstrations on casting, tying knots and bait handling.


So come along to Take a Kid Fishing Day and the friendly safe venue for all the family to enjoy the pleasures of a day out fishing. A free sample bag will be handed to the kids as well as a sausage sizzle at the end of the day.
